When is BooFest 2026?
BooFest is on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Lakewood Main Street, and it is free. It is the community’s main Halloween event, presented by Veteran Air.
Kids trick-or-treat along Main Street at booths run by local vendors. The Kids’ Zone, sponsored by Grace Community Church, has face painting, balloon twisting, inflatables and hands-on experiments. Four bands play the Main Stage through the evening, and food and drink vendors are on site. No registration is needed.
One tip: Veteran Air is giving free trick-or-treat pumpkin totes to the first 2,500 guests at its booth. If your kids want one, arrive near 6 p.m. Main Street’s address is 8100 Lakewood Main Street, in the Manatee County part of Lakewood Ranch.
What is Ranch Nite Wednesdays?
Ranch Nite Wednesdays is a free weekly evening of food trucks, live music and lawn games at Waterside Place, running every Wednesday from October 7, 2026 through May 26, 2027. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. at 1560 Lakefront Drive.
Expect a rotating lineup of local food trucks, drinks to go from Waterside Place restaurants, live music, and cornhole run by MVP Sports & Social. Gateway Park adds a different activity each week. In October, the calendar lists goat yoga on the first Wednesday (October 7, 6 to 7 p.m.) and a line dancing class on the second (October 14). Leashed dogs are welcome. Outside food and drinks are not allowed.

The best free family nights are Movie in the Park on October 9 and BooFest on October 30.
- Movie in the Park, Friday, October 9. Wicked plays at Waterside Park (7301 Island Cove Terrace) from 6 to 9 p.m. Elphaba and Glinda make appearances, kids’ inflatables open at 6 p.m., and Grace Community Church gives free burgers and chips to the first 130 people and popsicles to the first 260. Seating is first come, first served, so bring blankets or lawn chairs. Movie in the Park runs on the second Friday of each month.
- Sights + Sounds, Friday, October 9. Before the movie, Asolo Rep’s touring show Shakespeare 45 performs scenes, sonnets and soliloquies at Waterside Place from 6 to 7 p.m. Seating is limited, so bring a chair.
- Dogs Inc Visitor Center opening, Saturday, October 24. Dogs Inc is opening its new visitor center at 5815 Lakewood Ranch Blvd with guide and service dog demonstrations and a chance to meet local puppy raisers, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Lakewood Ranch Library. The library calendar has weekly baby, toddler and preschool storytimes, plus Read to a Dog on Saturday, October 17.
What is on at the farmers markets this month?
The Sunday farmers market runs every week at Waterside Place, and October adds a Goodtoberfest party on the 11th and a Saturday Main Street Market on the 10th.
The Farmers’ Market at Lakewood Ranch is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with more than 100 local vendors selling produce, flowers, bread, honey, prepared food and more, plus live music and a Kids’ Zone. On Sunday, October 11, Good Liquid Brewing Company hosts Goodtoberfest at the market with German-style food, a beer and food tent and live music from Petra & Teresa. Oktoberfest outfits and steins are encouraged.

Where can I watch live sports in October?
Sarasota Paradise, the area’s pro soccer team, plays two October home games at Premier Sports Campus, 5895 Post Blvd.
- Saturday, October 10: Pink in Paradise. The match against the Richmond Kickers kicks off at 7:30 p.m. The Mammolink mobile mammography bus offers free screenings from 3:30 p.m., the stadium is decorated in pink, and part of ticket sales benefits the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and wear pink.
- Saturday, October 24. Sarasota Paradise hosts Westchester SC at 7:30 p.m.

Main Street and Waterside Place host trivia, bingo and live music most nights of the week.
